<p>This book is a collection of photographs that records various buildings and structures which were erected prior to the Second World War. The collection includes civic buildings, hotels, commercial buildings, churches and historic properties. A few residential buildings are also included. Some of the buildings have had renovations, additions and alterations but are for all intents and purposes are basically as they were built.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In most cases, an early photograph has been used and a more recent photo added to show the changes, if any, which have occurred over the past 75 years or so. A brief history has been included on each structure.</p>

<p>This volume covers the 1830 and 1840 records of the convicts who arrived at St Heliers Station. When a new convict arrived his particulars were entered into this register. These details are not available elsewhere.<br />The book has the potential to provide so much new information about the convicts assigned to St Heliers, the attitude toward the convicts and how they responded.<br />The journal was transcribed by Mr Rob Tickle and the above words are taken from his introduction.</p>
